Golkar Legislator Highlights Logistics Security Following Bekasi Train Tragedy
JAKARTA, KOMPAS.com - A member of the House of Representatives Commission VII from the Golkar Party faction, Gandung Pardiman, has highlighted the importance of guaranteeing logistics security following the train tragedy in East Bekasi.
“The 2026 State Budget must prioritise this for the sake of national logistics security,” Gandung said in a press release on Thursday (30/4/2026).
“The manufacturing industry is a pillar of GDP (Gross Domestic Product) and the largest absorber of labour. One day of rail disruption could cost the industry trillions in losses. Do not wait for the next victim before taking action,” Gandung added.
Gandung suggested mitigating the supply chain. The Ministry of Industry and KAI Logistics need to immediately open a crisis post to divert the shipment of manufactured goods via an emergency scheme.
He called for a total safety audit of the railway system following the accident between the Argo Bromo Anggrek train and the KRL at Bekasi Timur Station.
“A total safety audit. The government and KAI must conduct a systemic evaluation, particularly of track supervision and level crossings that are prone to accidents,” Gandung stated.
Gandung noted that the collision triggered operational disruptions to the KRL and cancelled schedules for several long-distance trains.
He expressed deep condolences for the accident that claimed 16 lives.
“Of course, this serves as a warning to us all,” he added.
The train accident at Bekasi Timur Station in Bekasi City, involving the Argo Bromo Anggrek train from Gambir to Surabaya Pasar Turi and the PLB 5568A electric rail train (KRL) from Jakarta to Cikarang, on Monday night (27/4/2026) has brought profound grief.
The tragedy resulted in 16 passengers inside the KRL dying and 84 others injured.
PT Kereta Api Indonesia (KAI) President Director Bobby Rasyidin stated that the collision between the Argo Bromo Anggrek train and the KRL is suspected to have begun with an incident at a level crossing about 200 metres from Bekasi Timur Station.
“This incident started with a green taxi bumper at JPL 85. This is what we suspect disrupted the railway system in the Bekasi Timur station platform area,” Bobby said when met at Bekasi Timur Station in the early hours of Tuesday (28/4/2026).
