Jakarta – Golkar Party has expressed profound concern over military attacks by the United States and Israel against Iran, which have triggered open warfare causing harm to civilians.

Golkar Party Secretary-General M. Sarmuji stressed that the escalation of this conflict demonstrates the fragility of commitment to diplomatic channels in resolving international disputes.

“Golkar regrets and expresses deep disappointment over the failure of negotiations and diplomacy that has resulted in open warfare. This war is clearly detrimental to civilians alone. We urge both parties to exercise restraint and immediately cease the war,” Sarmuji stated in his statement on Monday, 2 March 2026.

Golkar also extended profound condolences for the loss of lives in the conflict, including the death of Iran’s Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei along with family members and other victims.

“We express profound condolences for the death of Ayatollah Ali Khamenei along with his family and all other victims. Every life lost is a human tragedy that cannot be justified by any reason,” said the Golkar faction chairman in the Indonesian parliament.

According to Golkar Party, the war between the United States and Israel against Iran is not a simple conflict, but rather an extremely complex and multidimensional issue involving geopolitical, regional security, global economic, and world energy stability aspects.

“This war is highly complex and multidimensional. Therefore, its resolution cannot be achieved through military force. The only path is to return to the negotiating table and resolve it through diplomatic approach,” Sarmuji said.

As a party that consistently supports Indonesia’s independent and active foreign policy, Golkar urged the United Nations to immediately take swift and concrete measures to halt the conflict, which is destructive and dangerous for world order.

“We urge the United Nations to take swift and concrete measures to stop the war, which is highly destructive and dangerous for world order,” he said.

Furthermore, Golkar also called on the Indonesian government to rally international forces to promote the cessation of war and return the resolution of the conflict to the diplomatic route.

“Indonesia must play an active role, rally international forces, and promote the resolution of the conflict through diplomatic channels. Peace is a shared interest of humanity,” he said.
