Golkar Hopes Prabowo Will Convey Optimism and Economic Reality at Plenary Session

It is acceptable for the President to outline the macroeconomic framework and fiscal policy. Public attention would be greater. As we are still in the early stages of the APBN cycle, there remains room for the public to respond with input, especially through Parliament, said Sarmuji when contacted on Tuesday (20 May 2026).

Sarmuji is confident Prabowo has a specific mission when he attends the plenary session. According to him, Prabowo will again build optimism.

“There is surely a mission for the President to deliver it directly. I believe the President will build optimism through the macro framework and the main fiscal policy,” he said.

However, Sarmuji also hopes Prabowo will convey the reality of Indonesia’s economic conditions. He believes Prabowo will blend reality and optimism.

“Optimism is based on reality. The two will surely be combined by the President,” he said.

As is known, the DPR will hold its 19th plenary meeting of the fifth session for the 2025-2026 legislative year today, Wednesday, 20 May 2026. The plenary is planned to be attended by President Prabowo Subianto.

“Yes, that’s the plan (Prabowo attending plenary),” said Deputy Speaker of the DPR Saan Mustopa at the parliamentary complex in Senayan, Jakarta, on Tuesday (19 May).

Saan said the plan is for Prabowo to deliver the macroeconomic framework (KER). Then, Prabowo is also expected to outline the pokok-pokok kebijakan fiskal (PPKF).

“So, for the delivery of the macroeconomic framework, and also the pokok-pokok kebijakan fiskal that will be delivered directly by the President,” he said.

The NasDem politician said this will be Prabowo’s first appearance at a DPR plenary session.

“Yes, as far as I know it’s his first,” he said.
