Golkar hat causes trouble

BOGOR, West Java: A roadside vendor and a Golkar supporter almost came to blows yesterday over a yellow hat bearing a picture of a banyan tree, the symbol of Golkar.

The Golkar supporter, taking part in a convoy, snatched one of the hats piled up on a pavement because he thought they were provided for free by a rally committee.

The trader chased and caught up with the supporter. After eye- balling each other and arguing briefly, the trader convinced the snatcher that the hat was for sale.

"Who told you Golkar gave me money?" the trader told the embarrassed Golkar supporter. (24)
