Golkar Faction Reshuffles Leadership, Commissions, and Other DPR Bodies
The Golkar Party faction in the DPR has reshuffled its membership across leadership positions, commissions, and other parliamentary bodies (AKD) to coincide with the 81st anniversary of Indonesian independence.
“I would like to report to my colleagues and fellow faction members that there has been a change in the faction leadership structure, which was announced today at the plenary meeting,” said Golkar Party Secretary-General Muhammad Sarmuji at a chairman’s briefing at the party office on Tuesday (18/8).
The rotation of Golkar faction membership in the AKD was set out in a faction letter dated 14 August concerning the determination of AKD membership composition from the Golkar Faction of the DPR RI.
Sarmuji, who also serves as faction chairman, said the faction secretary position is now held by Gde Sumarjaya Linggih, replacing Sari Yuliati, who recently became Deputy Speaker of the DPR, replacing Adies Kadir.
The reshuffle also affected the leadership of Commission II of the DPR. The Deputy Chairman of Commission II from Golkar, previously held by Zulfikar Arse, is now occupied by Agun Gunanjar Sudarsa. Meanwhile, the Deputy Chairman position of Commission III, which had been vacant, is now filled by Daniel Mutaqien Syafiuddin.
In Commission X, Hetifah Sjaifudian no longer serves as chairwoman. She has been transferred to become a member of Commission VII for Social and Religious Affairs. As her replacement, Commission X is now filled by Agung Widyantoro.
Sarmuji admitted he faced difficulties in carrying out the reshuffle within his faction. This was because many of those involved have close ties with the central board and founding organisations of Golkar, such as MKGR, Kosgoro, and Soksi.
“So it is quite a delicate situation now. Even though the faction chairman is still the secretary-general, if the faction chairman were not the secretary-general it would be even more of a headache. So I am delivering this report while also asking for protection from the chairman,” Sarmuji said before Chairman Bahlil Lahadalia, who was also present on the occasion.
