JAKARTA - Golkar faction leader in the House of Representatives, Muhammad Sarmuji, noted a significant improvement in Hajj services this year compared to previous years.

“In 2023, I was a member of the Hajj Oversight Team and we found many issues with food, accommodation, and transportation. This year, I performed Hajj as a regular pilgrim and visited several Indonesian Hajj sectors. Alhamdulillah, there has been a significant improvement in services,” Sarmuji said, as reported by ANTARA on Thursday, 28 May 2026.

His assessment was based on direct observations during his Hajj pilgrimage in 2026 as a regular pilgrim, while also inspecting Indonesian Hajj sectors in the Holy Land.

Having returned with a different capacity, he noted encouraging changes.

During his visits to three Indonesian Hajj sectors, Sarmuji directly inquired about the services received by pilgrims.

“I asked pilgrims in three sectors. On average, there were no significant issues with this year’s Hajj organisation. Similarly, the execution at Arafah, Muzdalifah, and Mina was relatively smooth and well-managed,” he said.

The Golkar party’s secretary-general also commended the discipline and professionalism of Hajj officials compared to previous years.

“Hajj officials were more disciplined this year than in recent years. They performed their duties well,” Sarmuji said.

In appreciation of these achievements, the East Java MP sincerely praised the government, particularly the Ministry of Hajj and Umrah, for their persistent efforts in improving services year-on-year.

“Because I was present not as an overseer, I could feel what the pilgrims truly experienced. I felt much better service. This is an achievement we must honestly acknowledge; the Ministry of Hajj has worked hard and the results are tangible,” he added.

He hopes the positive momentum will be maintained and enhanced in future Hajj operations.

The Golkar faction in the House of Representatives, he said, will continue to support and monitor Hajj operations to ensure Indonesian pilgrims can worship with devotion, safety, and comfort.
