The Golkar Party’s Ethics Council has imposed ethical sanctions on three cadres from South Sumatra Province after they were found to have violated the party’s code of ethics by posting narratives, videos, and images related to internal party matters on social media. The three cadres are Deni Hegar, Muhammad Akbar, and Ahlan Wilmana. They were proven to have committed ethical violations following a series of hearings conducted by the Golkar Party Ethics Council. Chairman of the Golkar Party Ethics Council, Prof. Mohammad Hatta, stated that bringing internal party issues into the public domain contravenes organisational rules and is considered to tarnish the party’s reputation. “As party cadres, every member should understand the obligation to uphold the honour, dignity, and standing of the Golkar Party. In accordance with the Articles of Association, Bylaws, Party Regulations on Organisational Discipline, and the Golkar Party Code of Ethics, conveying internal matters to the public sphere is prohibited. Every internal issue has a resolution mechanism according to party rules,” said Mohammad Hatta, quoted on Saturday, 27 June 2026. The ethics hearing for Deni Hegar was held on 2 June 2026. Meanwhile, the hearings for Muhammad Akbar and Ahlan Wilmana took place on 22 June, 24 June, and concluded with the reading of the verdict on 26 June 2026. During the hearings, the Ethics Council declared the three individuals proven to have committed disgraceful acts and violated the Golkar Party principles of Achievement, Discipline, Dedication, Loyalty, and Integrity (PD2LT). The Council assessed that the images, videos, and narratives published on social media had generated negative perceptions towards the Golkar Party, the Ethics Council, and the General Chairman of the Golkar Party. For these violations, the three cadres were handed ethical sanctions and ordered not to repeat their actions. The Ethics Council also warned that similar violations in the future would result in heavier sanctions. In addition to delivering the verdict, Mohammad Hatta urged all Golkar cadres across regions to safeguard the party’s good name and prioritise organisational mechanisms in resolving any internal issues. “Ahead of the 2029 democratic festival, all cadres are expected to focus on growing the Golkar Party and winning the party in order to enhance service to the Indonesian people and contribute to national development,” said Hatta.
