Golkar dominates N. Sulawesi House

MANADO, North Sulawesi: Golkar has won two of four seats for speakers of the provincial legislature here, Antara reported on Monday.

The results of a reportedly democratic plenary meeting led Golkar cadres H.J. Sondakh, Golkar's provincial chairman to become speaker, with 17 out of 45 votes, and another Golkar member, H. Sun Biki, to become a deputy speaker. Biki gained three votes.

Other elected deputy speakers were Freddy H. Sualang, provincial chairman of the Indonesian Democratic Party of Struggle who got 12 votes, and Col. S.Y. Pantouw of the military faction who won seven votes.

Golkar won four of seven House seats in North Sulawesi in the June general election.
