Golkar Deputy Chairman on Cabinet Reshuffle Issue: Mr Prabowo Knows Best

Jakarta – Deputy Chairman of Golkar Party, Ahmad Doli Kurnia, commented on calls from experts for President Prabowo Subianto to reshuffle the Merah Putih Cabinet amid the intensifying geopolitical situation. Doli stated that cabinet reshuffles fall under the absolute authority or prerogative of the President, Mr Prabowo. “If it’s about a cabinet reshuffle, it’s the absolute authority or prerogative, the privilege of the President, Mr Prabowo,” Doli told reporters at the parliamentary complex in Senayan, Central Jakarta, on Monday, 6 April 2026. He added that only Prabowo knows the most appropriate time to overhaul his cabinet lineup, including in relation to the current geopolitical conditions stemming from the conflict in the Middle East. “Of course, he is the one who can best assess whether any situation faced, including the current international geopolitical situation, has an impact on Indonesia such that steps must be taken, including regarding the reshuffle. Mr Prabowo knows best,” he said. According to Doli, the ministers in the Merah Putih Cabinet have already taken progressive steps in responding to the Middle East conflict. He then highlighted several countries that have implemented policies to raise fuel prices as a result of the Middle East conflict. “For example, in other countries, fuel prices have risen, but not here. And the government has stated that our fuel stocks are still safe to this day. Our food situation is also still secure,” he revealed. “So, it means that Mr Prabowo and his cabinet have so far taken anticipatory measures and made quick policy adjustments to suit the situation,” Doli concluded.
