The Deputy Chairman of the Golkar Party, Ahmad Doli Kurnia, has expressed deep concern regarding the involvement of Muara Enim Regent Edison in a Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) sting operation (OTT). Golkar, which was one of the parties supporting Edison during the regional head election, regrets the incident.

“We are certainly very concerned; for the umpteenth time, a regional head has been entangled in legal issues through a sting operation. Such recurring incidents should compel us to be increasingly serious about creating an anti-corruption ecosystem within the government, particularly in local administrations,” Doli told reporters on Monday (8/6/2026).

Doli noted that Edison was a civil servant (ASN) before being elected as regent. He mentioned that while Edison had never formally declared himself a Golkar cadre, the party regrets the actions demonstrated by the official.

“Mr Edison himself was a civil servant before being elected Regent. Golkar was one of the parties that supported Mr Edison during the recent regional elections, although as far as I recall, Mr Edison has not yet firmly declared himself a cadre,” said Doli. “However, this is not about which party a person belongs to; regardless of their background, no one should engage in corruption. We simply find this very regrettable.”

It is reported that the KPK conducted the sting operation in Muara Enim, South Sumatra, resulting in the detention of the Muara Enim Regent.

“That is correct,” confirmed KPK Deputy Chairman Fitroh Rohcahyanto when asked for confirmation on Monday (8/6/2026).

The KPK has not yet disclosed the other individuals detained in the operation, nor the specific details of the case leading to Edison’s arrest. The KPK has 24 hours to officially announce the legal status of all parties detained.
