Golkar Party deputy chairman Wihaji said he was confident the government’s programmes would be achieved during the first two years of President Prabowo Subianto and Vice-President Gibran Rakabuming Raka’s leadership, because many parties were working together to deliver them.

“I believe they will be achieved. Of course, there will be various challenges. But those of us in government are confident because we are working together, under the President’s direction. Once again, under the President’s direction, we are doing our utmost,” Wihaji said after a press conference ahead of Golkar’s 62nd anniversary at the party’s headquarters in Slipi, West Jakarta, on Monday evening (19 October 2026).

He said, however, that the government must continue to improve on its achievements, highlighting the importance of cooperation among many parties.

“Of course, we will continue to maximise our achievements. If asked whether the targets will be met, I am confident they will. This requires unity and continued collaboration with our colleagues, particularly the media,” he said.

Wihaji, who is Indonesia’s Minister of Population and Family Development, said Golkar would carry out its national duties to the best of its ability. He also spoke about the solidarity of the coalition supporting the government.

“I think we always follow the direction of the chairman. Golkar is one of the parties in the governing coalition, so our task is to support and follow up on President Prabowo’s programmes as he and the Vice-President carry out their national duties,” Wihaji said.

“The President’s vision and mission are pursued both in the executive branch, where several ministers represent Golkar, and in the legislature. I believe this is part of the coalition’s collective effort in government to make the best contribution to the Indonesian people,” he added.

He said Golkar would seek to support the administration without withholding feedback. Whether or not it was asked to do so, Wihaji said, the party would contribute to the country’s progress.

“To date, we have remained committed to providing support together, without diminishing our capacity for criticism. We are open to that; what matters most is the good of the nation, the state and the Indonesian people,” he said.

“Whether or not an evaluation is requested, as long as it serves the interests of the nation and the state, the chairman will take action—whether by reporting directly to the President, engaging the relevant ministries or working through the legislature,” he added.
