JAKARTA — Golkar party chairman Bahlil Lahadalia has stated that he has received information indicating that pocket money for free return-home travellers has not increased in six years.

Bahlil made the statement whilst seeing off travellers being sent home by Golkar at the party’s central office in West Jakarta on Tuesday (17 March 2026).

“There is an aspiration from the community. I haven’t checked yet, but during my trip from Japan to Jakarta, I received information that Golkar has been organising return-home travel for six years, but the cash allowance hasn’t increased. It has remained the same,” said Bahlil.

Bahlil reminded those present that for Golkar, if the people are happy, then Golkar is happy.

“So if possible, before the departure, an increase in allowance would be good. That is most important. Do you agree?” said Bahlil.

“We agree,” responded the travellers.

Bahlil also made a light-hearted remark that Golkar’s political position would not improve without public support.

“Ah yes. So we can’t raise our position without their support,” added Bahlil with a smile.

Approximately 1,000 travellers were sent home for free. They travelled to Solo, Klaten, Yogyakarta, Madiun, Boyolali, Bantul, Magelang, Cirebon, and Indramayu.
