Jakarta (ANTARA) - Deputy General Chairman of the Golkar Party Central Executive Board, Ahmad Doli Kurnia, has urged Golkar Party cadres in Southeast Maluku, Maluku Province, to remain calm and not be provoked by emotions following the stabbing of the Chairman of DPD II Golkar Southeast Maluku (Malra), Agrapinus Rumatora (Nus Kei), which resulted in his death.

“I hope that all levels of the Golkar Party, especially in Southeast Maluku, can continue to control themselves,” Doli said at the parliamentary complex in Jakarta on Monday.

Therefore, he advised Golkar cadres in the region to help cool the situation while monitoring the legal process to ensure it runs properly.

He also expressed shock and regret over the tragedy.

Amid the nation’s progress, according to him, all issues should be resolved through dialogue, with a cool head and without emotion.

“I hope this has no connection to political matters, especially Golkar, and if it is a personal matter, I hope the family does not respond in the same way,” he said.

To that end, he invited all parties to fully hand over the case to law enforcement authorities for follow-up.

He was also grateful that the perpetrator has been arrested.

“Certainly, the extended Golkar Party family extends its condolences and sympathies to the bereaved family,” he said.

Previously, the Chairman of the Regional Leadership Council (DPD) II of the Golkar Party in Southeast Maluku, Agrapinus Rumatora alias Nus Kei, was stabbed by an unknown person at the exit of Karel Sadsuitubun Airport on Sunday (19/4).

Police stated that the stabbing occurred around 11:25 WIT, right at the airport exit when the victim had just arrived from Jakarta.

The victim was rushed to Karel Sadsuitubun Hospital by family members around 12:00 WIT. However, his life could not be saved due to the serious injuries he sustained.

Police eventually succeeded in arresting two individuals suspected of carrying out the attack on Nus Kei approximately two hours after the incident. The two are identified by initials HR (28) and FU (36).
