General Chairman of the Golkar Party, Bahlil Lahadalia, is confident that President Prabowo Subianto has the ability to mediate the conflict between the United States, Israel and Iran. “I am not commenting on external parties. Our country is a democracy; everyone may have opinions, everyone may think. That is one of the consequences of democracy,” Bahlil said at the Golkar DPP in Slipi, West Jakarta, on Friday, 6 March 2026. “But for Golkar, we deeply understand, comprehend, and trust in the capability of Mr. President Prabowo,” he added.

The Energy and Mineral Resources Minister claimed to have just accompanied Prabowo on visits to several countries, including Japan, the United States, London in the United Kingdom, Jordan, and the United Arab Emirates. From these visits, Bahlil said he observed Prabowo’s closeness with leaders of other nations.

“So if some people do not know Mr. President Prabowo, that is understandable, but for us in Golkar who know Mr. President Prabowo, God willing we are very confident in his ability to engage in political communication between heads of state around the world,” he said.

As information, Prabowo intends to become a mediator regarding the escalation of the conflict between the US–Israel and Iran. Prabowo is also said to have contacted Gulf leaders.

Nusron Wahid, the Minister of Agrarian Affairs and Spatial Planning (ATR/BPN) and a Nahdlatul Ulama (NU) figure, said that Prabowo’s move to become mediator was met with a positive response from the world. Nusron said Middle Eastern countries supported the initiative.

“While considering the situation, what was conveyed is that the principle is that the President desires a meeting with Iran. To become a mediator and Iran is open to it,” Nusron Wahid said after the iftar with ulama at the Presidential Palace, Jakarta, Thursday, 5 March.

“And then the steps taken by the President have received support from several Middle Eastern countries and other Muslim nations. Including Pakistan, and also from UAE (United Arab Emirates),” he added.
