Golkar and PKB Address Allegations Linking Members to Doctor Icha's Death

Golkar and PKB have responded to the case of the death of Dr Eliza Princila Utami Pakaenoni, affectionately known as Doctor Icha, in North Central Timor (TTU), which has been linked to two members of the Regional House of Representatives (DPRD), Therensius Lazakar and Norbertus Tubani. Both parties stated they will investigate the case deeply and take firm action if any violations are found.

“Our message to all public officials, especially those from Golkar, is ‘ojo dumeh’ (do not be arrogant). Do not behave inappropriately or intimidate those in lower positions just because you hold an office,” Sarmuji told reporters on Sunday (28/6/2026).

Sarmuji stated that Golkar DPRD member Therensius will be summoned by the party’s Provincial DPD. The party intends to discipline members if misconduct is discovered. “Regarding DPRD members who behave poorly, we request the Provincial DPD to summon and discipline them. For this case, we will ask the Provincial DPD to investigate further,” he said.

Similarly, PKB Vice Chairman Jazilul Fawaid responded to the involvement of PKB DPRD member Norbertus Tubani in the case of Doctor Icha’s death. He asserted that the party will take strict action against any members who break the law. “I have not yet received a report and do not know the exact details, but if there is a PKB member who violates the law, ethics, or causes chaos, we will certainly take firm action,” said Jazilul.

Jazilul also addressed comments made by the Regent of North Central Timor (TTU), Yosep Falentinus Delasalle Kebo, who suggested that DPRD members frequently cause disturbances under the influence of alcohol during recess periods. Yosep noted that the case of Doctor Icha has exposed the underlying behaviour of certain council members. “There is no tolerance for members who tarnish the party’s reputation,” Jazilul stated.

He mentioned that the party could issue reprimands, severe warnings, or even dismissal against the members involved. The party is currently awaiting strong evidence regarding the death of Doctor Icha. “Actions may range from a reprimand or warning to dismissal, provided there are convincing reports and evidence,” he added.

Previously, the Regent of North Central Timor, Yosep, spoke out regarding the death of Doctor Icha, noting that certain DPRD TTU members frequently cause chaos due to alcohol consumption during recess. “The incident involving Dr Icha has uncovered a veil that has long been kept tightly closed,” said Yosep, as reported by detikBali on Sunday (2t8/6/2026).

“Certain individuals, during or around their recess periods, cause disturbances due to the influence of alcohol,” he continued.

Regarding the death of Doctor Icha: Dr Icha was declared dead on Friday (26/6/2026). It is alleged that Icha suffered from severe depression, believed to be caused by intimidation by TTU DPRD members, leading her to take her own life by hanging.

Icha was allegedly intimidated while on duty in the Emergency Room (IGD) of Leona Kefamenanu Hospital, TTU, East Nusa Tenggara (NTT). At the time, Icha was treating a child who was a victim of a green snake bite. Two men claiming to be members of the TTU DPRD arrived at the ER and reportedly spoke to Icha in an aggressive tone. The two men were identified as TTU DPRD members, Therensius Lazakar and Norbertus Tubani. The patient in question was reportedly the nephew of Therensius.
