Golkar: Adela Kadir Assigned to DPR Commission III
Golkar Party General Secretary Muhammad Sarmuji stated that Adela Kanasya Kadir will work in the House of Representatives Commission III, which deals with legal matters. Today’s DPR plenary session inaugurated Adela as a midterm replacement member (PAW), succeeding her father, Adies Kadir.
“For the time being (Adela) is replacing Mr Adies in Commission III. She will be placed later after we talk with Ms Adela,” Sarmuji said when contacted on Tuesday, 12 May 2026.
Adela’s inauguration was carried out based on Presidential Decree of Prabowo Subianto dated 22 April 2026 regarding the official appointment of DPR PAW members. Adela, who received the second highest number of votes in the East Java 1 electoral district, automatically advances to replace Adies Kadir, who was appointed as a Constitutional Court judge proposed by the DPR in January 2026.
DPR Speaker Puan Maharani guided Adela in reciting her oath of office, in accordance with the rules requiring PAW DPR members to take the oath before assuming the position.
“By Allah, I swear that I will fulfil my duties as a member of the House of Representatives to the best of my ability and as fairly as possible in accordance with the laws and regulations, guided by Pancasila and the 1945 Constitution,” Adela said in the DPR plenary session room, Jakarta, on Tuesday.
In her oath, Adela pledged to carry out her duties diligently to uphold democracy. She also stated that she would prioritise the interests of the nation and state over personal or group interests.
Adies Kadir is no longer a legislator after being nominated as a Constitutional Court judge in January 2026. He was proposed by the DPR to replace Justice Arief Hidayat, who retired at the beginning of February.
Adies Kadir’s nomination as a constitutional judge was approved in a plenary session on Tuesday, 27 January 2026. The former Golkar Deputy General Chairman has resigned from the party and been dismissed as Deputy Speaker of the DPR. His position in the parliamentary leadership was replaced by Sari Yuliati, a Golkar cadre.
The agreement to propose the former DPR leader to the Constitutional Court to replace Justice Arief Hidayat was made swiftly. The day before approval, Adies underwent a fitness and propriety test as a Constitutional Court candidate with DPR Commission III. However, since August 2025, the DPR had already first determined a proposal for a constitutional judge candidate to former DPR Expertise Agency Head Inosentius Samsul.
