Golden Indonesia 2045 Requires Youth Capable of Nurturing Harmony

The success of the Golden Indonesia 2045 Roadmap is largely determined by the quality of the younger generation who are able to build unity amidst diversity. This message was conveyed by Special Adviser to the Minister of Religious Affairs of the Republic of Indonesia, H. Gugun Gumilar, MA, PhD, while speaking at the ‘Interfaith 2026’ Pluralism School at the Manado State Christian Religious Institute (IAKN) on Thursday (9/7).

On the occasion, Special Adviser Gugun emphasised that the demographic bonus must be directed into a development bonus through strengthening character, leadership, and cross-religious and cross-cultural collaboration.

“A nation’s excellence is not only measured by the quality of its human resources, but also by its ability to nurture social cohesion. Golden Indonesia 2045 requires young people who make diversity a strategic asset to generate innovation, strengthen unity, and realise inclusive development,” said Gugun.

According to him, amidst the challenges of polarisation, digital disruption, and global change, the younger generation must step forward as agents of harmony who prioritise dialogue, tolerance, and the spirit of mutual cooperation in community life.

Gugun also invited participants of the ‘Interfaith’ Pluralism School to not only understand diversity as a social reality, but to make it a strength in building Indonesia’s future. Through interfaith collaboration, youth are expected to be able to present solutions to various national problems while strengthening national unity.

The activity, which was attended by interfaith youth from various regions, served as a shared learning space to cultivate inclusive leadership, strengthen religious moderation, and prepare the younger generation ready to contribute to realising Golden Indonesia 2045.
