Golden handshakes to be paid out soon

PALANGKARAYA, Central Kalimantan: Despite public criticism,
Central Kalimantan Governor Asmawi Agani gave approval on Friday
for the planned disbursement of end-of-service payments to all 45
provincial councillors, whose five-year terms are almost at an
end.

"We haven't yet determined the amount of money involved, but
we will definitely disburse the money quickly as an expression of
our gratitude to all of you who have faithfully served the public
over the past five years," he told the councillors during a
plenary meeting at the provincial council building.

Five years ago, each outgoing councillor received Rp 20
million in end-of-service payments from the local administration.
