Gold Smuggling Disguised as Coffee Packaging Uncovered at Jambi Airport

The Special Criminal Investigation Directorate of the Jambi Regional Police is currently investigating an alleged case involving the smuggling of gold bars disguised as coffee packaging through Sultan Thaha Jambi Airport. Jambi Regional Police Chief, Inspector General Krisno H. Siregar, confirmed the investigation through the Director of Special Criminal Investigation, Commissioner Taufik Nurmandia. “It is still being investigated,” Taufik Nurmandia stated briefly on Monday (18/5).

The ongoing investigation by the Jambi Regional Police Special Criminal Investigation Directorate into the suspected smuggling of 375 grams of gold bars hidden in coffee packaging is being conducted in synergy and coordination with security stakeholders at Sultan Thaha Jambi Airport. According to information gathered, the attempt to smuggle gold bars wrapped in aluminium foil inside powder coffee packaging—produced by a prominent coffee company in Jambi—was detected during an X-ray inspection by cargo officers at Sultan Thaha Airport last Friday (15/5). The gold bars were found mixed within a box containing other goods destined for shipment to Jakarta.
