Gold Slumps While Oil Surges on Hormuz Strait Tensions
Jakarta, CNBC Indonesia - The Composite Stock Price Index (IHSG) continued its decline in the first trading session on Monday (22/06/2026), falling 0.87% to 6,123 by 10:05 WIB, while the rupiah edged 0.06% lower against the US dollar to trade at Rp 17,785.
From the commodity markets, gold prices slumped below the USD 4,200 per troy ounce level following a strengthening of the US dollar, with coal prices also correcting. On the other hand, oil prices rose again, driven by renewed tensions in the Strait of Hormuz.
