Gold shop achieves Rp1 billion turnover during Ramadan
Owner of Wanda B gold shop in Simpang Empat District, Tanah Bumbu Regency, South Kalimantan, Alfian (38), achieved a turnover of around Rp1 billion or more during the holy month of Ramadan 1447 H/2026 M.
“Alhamdulillah, this year’s Ramadan moment saw the number of jewellery buyers at our shop increase by up to 70 percent or more than Rp1 billion compared to the previous month,” said Alfian in Batulicin on Saturday.
He explained that the gold purity or jewellery sold varies, from 37.5 percent to 99.9 percent, often called “pure gold” by locals.
Pure gold jewellery was more in demand by prospective buyers; even during this moment, the amount of jewellery sold reached approximately more than three ounces.
Alfian provides many types and shapes of jewellery, from necklaces, rings, bracelets, earrings, pendants, to gold bars.
The prices vary according to the available gold purity, and he also offers custom jewellery making services according to the prospective buyer’s taste or desired model. During that moment, around ten people ordered custom jewellery making according to their preferences.
“For making a necklace, it’s around two weeks or more, depending on the difficulty level of the desired jewellery model,” said Alfian.
He acknowledged that gold prices cannot be guaranteed to stay the same or rise every month, and the wars in several countries also affect gold prices in Indonesia, particularly in Tanah Bumbu.
“We have been running this business for seven years, with average monthly sales turnover of around Rp1 billion or more,” explained Alfian.
