Gold Prices in Batam Rise by Rp30,000, Buyback Surges on May 25
Gold prices for certified Antam bars in Batam today, May 25, 2026, recorded a significant increase. According to the latest data, the price rose by Rp30,000 to Rp2,803,000 per gram, up from the previous rate of Rp2,773,000 per gram.
The buyback price saw a sharper rise, surging by Rp35,000 to Rp2,612,000 per gram from the prior level of Rp2,577,000 per gram. This surge in buyback value is seen as a positive signal for investors looking to take profits.

Market conditions have prompted varied reactions from Batam residents. Anto, 38, a resident of Batam Center, said he is considering selling his assets but remains cautious. “If the buyback price has indeed risen, it’s attractive. But I’ll still compare prices across several gold shops in Batam to avoid losses,” he said.
In contrast, Andi, 42, an executive in Batu Aji, has chosen to keep his gold as emergency funds. He believes gold is better suited as a long-term hedge rather than for short-term gains from daily fluctuations.
It’s important to note that local Batam gold shops’ buyback prices do not always align with Antam’s national rates. Physical store prices are influenced by several factors. For reference, the buyback price for pure 24-carat gold at local shops like Banda Baru Mas Batam in mid-May was around Rp2,390,000 per gram. Residents are advised to check with trusted gold shops in Batam before finalising transactions to secure the best offers. (H-4)
