Gold Investment Becomes More Affordable, Starting at the Price of a Cup of Coffee
Gold investment is now increasingly accessible to the public, including young people who are beginning to seek simple financial instruments with small capital. Gold, long known as a hedge asset, can now be purchased for an amount equivalent to the price of a cup of coffee.
Bank Syariah Indonesia (BSI) is promoting increased gold investment literacy through its gold banking service, which is expected to be closer to public needs. Gold purchases can now be made digitally via the BYOND by BSI app.
BSI’s Director of Finance & Strategy, Ade Cahyo Nugroho, stated that gold is one of the instruments suitable for introducing to the younger generation because it is easy to understand and relatively stable.
“Young Indonesians must be encouraged to become literate in sharia investment in an easy, safe way with good prospects, one of which is through gold,” he said, quoted on Monday (13/4/2026).
Through this service, the public can start buying gold for around Rp 50,000, with prices following daily market movements. This method makes gold investment no longer associated with large capital requirements.
BSI is also packaging education approaches more simply to make them easier for young people to accept. Gold investment is even said to be able to start “as easily as buying a cup of coffee”.
In addition to being digital, the purchased gold can also be printed into physical form, transferred between gold accounts, or pawned when urgent needs arise.
“Gold can serve as savings, can be printed, and can also be a solution in emergency situations,” Cahyo said.
As of February 2026, BSI recorded gold management of around 22.5 tonnes, with significant growth in customers since the gold banking service was launched.
The company is also continuing to expand sharia financial literacy through collaborations with universities and various institutions, in the hope that more people, especially young people, will start building investment habits from an early age.
