Gold Demand Surges, Antam: We Apologise if There Are Difficulties Obtaining Our Gold

Jakarta - PT Aneka Tambang Tbk (Antam) said that gold production is carried out in line with the availability of raw materials. Although demand from the public for gold has surged, at times supply cannot meet the demand. Wisnu Danandi Haryanto, Head of the Corporate Secretary Division at Antam, said the company will produce gold as much as possible based on the materials it has. “We apologise if there are difficulties in obtaining our gold, but sometimes the production available to us cannot balance with the public’s interest in owning that gold,” he said when met in Jakarta on Tuesday (3 March 2026). “We are currently in the process of ensuring that production can always be increased, raw materials can be obtained more quickly to ensure that there is always gold ready for customers who want to buy it,” he added. In addition to physical sales, Antam also offers digital gold services through an app or digital gold vaults that have been operating for several years. Wisnu emphasised that the vault system applies a one-to-one scheme between digital purchases and available physical gold. “Whatever the customer buys in the vault, we always prepare one. So if they buy one kilogram, we will certainly prepare one kilogram that is ready to be taken,” he said. He noted that this mechanism is a way for Antam to maintain public trust that the gold purchased, including through the digital platform, is physically available and securely stored. “That is how our gold at Antam works. That is how we can give the public confidence that the gold is safe when stored at Antam,” he explained.
