Gojek Singapore Appoints New Chief Executive, Former Uber Executive
Gojek Singapore has appointed Janine Teo as General Manager, replacing Lien Choong Luen who resigned in February after leading the company for seven years.
Gojek told The Straits Times that Teo has worked at the company for over seven years, holding several operational leadership positions.
“With her extensive experience, we are confident that she can drive continued growth of this business and strengthen the Gojek platform to support our driver partners and their livelihoods, whilst delivering reliable service to consumers in Singapore,” the company said in a statement on Saturday, 14 March 2026.
Teo previously served as country lead for driver experience and operations manager at Uber from 2017 to 2018. She subsequently became head of supply in Singapore at GoTo Group, the parent technology company that acquired Gojek in 2020.
Lien said that during his tenure, he witnessed the ride-hailing industry develop rapidly in a “highly intense” period marked by increased competition and tighter regulation.
He added that one of the greatest challenges the company faced was navigating the COVID-19 pandemic, including supporting drivers amidst a sharp decline in demand.
Lien said he plans to take a sabbatical and focus more on his board roles, including as president of Singapore Athletics. He also mentioned exploring opportunities in the technology sector and monitoring developments in the region.
“After seven years leading Gojek Singapore and with a strong business position in place, this is the right time for Lien to transition from this role whilst pursuing his personal interests,” Gojek said in its official statement.
