Gojek Permanently Blocks Couple Suspected of Indecent Act in Ride-Hailing Taxi in South Jakarta
Jakarta - Gojek has taken firm action against a couple suspected of committing an indecent act in a ride-hailing taxi in Cipulir, Kebayoran Lama, South Jakarta. The ride-hailing passengers’ account has now been permanently blocked.
“Based on our investigation, the passengers were proven to have committed a violation. We have suspended or permanently blocked the passengers’ account,” said Head of Corporate Affairs ODS Rosel Lavina in a statement on Sunday (15/2/2026).
She said this measure was taken to ensure such incidents do not happen again. Additionally, it is meant to ensure the company’s ecosystem remains safe and free from indecent acts and other forms of violations.
“We also urge driver partners to report any violations through official channels, one of which is the help page on the Gojek Driver app. In emergency situations, both driver partners and customers can use the emergency button in the app, which is directly connected to the Gojek Emergency Unit/Task Force, ready to respond 24 hours a day,” she said.
“Gojek is committed to providing a safe ecosystem for both customers and driver partners. This is realized through a series of preventive measures and firm action against violators,” she added.
Driver’s Account of Confronting the Couple
A video of the alleged indecent act also went viral on social media. The driver, identified by the initials AR, recounted the moment he first became suspicious of the alleged indecent behavior of his two passengers.
He said he had accepted a booking from Central Jakarta to South Jakarta. Midway through the trip, AR became suspicious because the female passenger kept lying down and resting her head on the male passenger’s lap.
To confirm his suspicions, AR tried adjusting the rearview mirror in the center of his car and claims he saw the indecent act being committed by the two.
“I started tilting the center mirror down. Once I tilted it down, that’s when I started confronting them,” AR told reporters on Thursday (12/2).
AR said both passengers initially ignored his warning. They remained in their original position. However, after he began reprimanding them in a raised voice, the female passenger started to sit up. He said he noticed both of their clothes were in disarray.
“I saw the girl’s clothes were disheveled. The guy’s pants were also not in order,” he said.
AR also said he did not want to act rashly at the time by immediately asking both passengers to get out. He explained that doing so would have affected the booking rating on his account.
He also shared his reason for uploading the video of the alleged indecent act. He said he simply wanted to educate ride-hailing passengers to treat each other with respect and decency.
