Gojek Halts GoRide Hemat Subscription Scheme, Here Is Its Impact on Users
Jakarta, CNBC Indonesia - GoTo through its GoJek service has decided to discontinue the subscription scheme for driver partners for the GoRide Hemat service. Going forward, the service will operate under an 8% revenue-sharing model, similar to GoRide regular. GoTo’s Chief Executive Officer Hans Patuwo said the GoRide Hemat subscription programme had previously begun limited trials in November 2025. The scheme was subsequently rolled out nationwide in February 2026. ‘In November 2025, Gojek began limited-scale trials of the GoRide Hemat subscription scheme for driver partners. GoRide Hemat is our second GoRide service, after GoRide regular. Therefore, in February 2026, this scheme was expanded to GoRide Hemat across Indonesia,’ Hans said at a press conference at GoTo’s office in Jakarta on Tuesday (19/5/2026). However, after operating for about three months, the company carried out a comprehensive evaluation of the programme’s implementation. From the assessment results, the company concluded that the subscription scheme needs a better balance for the welfare of driver partners. ‘After three months of operation, we conducted in-depth reviews and found that this subscription scheme needs a better balance for the welfare of driver partners,’ Hans explained. Therefore, GoJek has decided to discontinue the subscription programme in the near term. Going forward, GoRide Hemat will adopt the 8% revenue-sharing mechanism, the same as the GoRide regular service. ‘Thus, we have decided to discontinue the subscription programme, effective in the near term. Going forward, GoRide Hemat will also follow the 8% revenue-sharing system as GoRide regular,’ he said. Impact on Consumers Hans added the change in the scheme would affect consumer pricing adjustments, particularly for the GoRide Hemat service. Nevertheless, the company ensured that price increases would be limited and would continue to consider the purchasing power of the public. ‘The impact of this, specifically for the GoRide Hemat service, will be limited price adjustments for consumers. We ensure that these adjustments are measured and still prioritise affordability for the public,’ he emphasised. He also asked customers to understand that the tariff adjustments are aimed at supporting the welfare of driver partners. For the implementation of the 8% revenue-sharing, the company is currently awaiting details from Presidential Regulation Number 27 of 2026. ‘Regarding the detail of implementation, the plan details, we are also waiting for the Perpres in detail. We will continue to communicate and engage throughout this period. So we hope to implement it as soon as possible, at the same time, without breaks in phases,’ said Chaterine Hindra Sutjahyo, GoTo’s Deputy President Director, at the same event. (fab/fab)
