Gojek Appoints Alves Godino as Safe Riding Ambassador to Promote Safety Culture
Francisco Alves Godino has been officially appointed as Gojek’s Safe Riding Ambassador. Alves Godino is a Gojek driver-partner in Bali who went viral for his consistency in requiring passengers to wear helmets, even willing to lose orders to uphold passenger safety.
Head of Driver Operations Gojek, Bambang AW, stated that safe riding is not merely a rule but a responsibility in every journey. According to him, Alves’ appointment is a form of appreciation as well as part of Gojek’s efforts to strengthen the culture of safety among driver-partners.
“We greatly appreciate Alves’ consistency in ensuring riding safety. We want every driver-partner to be confident that when they make the right decision for safety, Gojek will stand with them,” Bambang said in a statement on Thursday (6/8/2026).
“If a trip cancellation occurs because a passenger refuses to follow safety procedures, we will conduct a review so that drivers who prioritise safety are not disadvantaged. What Alves has done is an example that safety must always come first,” he added.
As Gojek’s Safe Riding Ambassador, Alves will share his experiences, best practices, and safety messages with fellow driver-partners through social media. Bambang hopes Alves’ attitude will be emulated by other driver-partners.
“Alves’ appointment is not only a form of appreciation but also an effort to encourage more driver-partners and customers to make riding safety a top priority in every journey,” Bambang continued.
He noted that Gojek continues to promote a safe riding culture, including through safety training, education within the Gojek Driver app (Tips Pintar), and ongoing reminders about the importance of complying with safety procedures.
Meanwhile, Alves explained that his decision to always require passengers to wear helmets stems from a driver’s sense of responsibility. Alves himself has been a Gojek driver-partner since 2019.
“After joining Gojek, I carry other people on my motorbike. Because of that, I feel fully responsible for the safety of every passenger I carry,” Alves said.
Alves affirmed that this principle led him to choose not to proceed with a trip if a passenger refused to wear a helmet. According to him, safety while riding must be prioritised.
“I would rather lose one order than take a risk with the safety of the passenger or myself,” Alves stated.
Gojek considers the collaboration of all parties in complying with safety procedures essential to delivering safe, comfortable, and responsible journeys. Gojek hopes that Alves’ appointment as Safe Riding Ambassador will enable more driver-partners and consumers to receive the message of riding safety, especially amidst the high mobility of residents and tourists on the Island of the Gods.
