Gojek and Grab Commission Cut to 8% Starting 1 July 2026

Indonesia’s leading ride-hailing companies, Gojek and Grab, have formally agreed to reduce their commission fees for online motorbike taxi (ojol) drivers to 8%, with the new policy set to take effect on 1 July 2026. The announcement was made following a meeting between company representatives and Deputy Speakers of the House of Representatives (DPR) Sufmi Dasco Ahmad and Cucun Ahmad Syamsurijal at the Parliament Complex in Senayan, Jakarta, on Tuesday (23/6).

Wakil Direktur Utama GoTo, Catherine Sutjahyo, confirmed the company’s commitment to implementing the policy, stating it was a follow-up to President Prabowo Subianto’s directive on 1 May 2026 regarding the protection and welfare of online drivers. ‘Effective 1 July 2026, GoTo through Gojek will begin implementing an 8% commission for two-wheeled passenger transport services, or GoRide,’ she said during a press conference. Grab Indonesia CEO Neneng Goenadi similarly confirmed that Grab would enforce the 8% deduction simultaneously to ensure uniform welfare standards across the online transport industry.

Deputy Speaker Dasco welcomed the swift action by the applicators, noting that the commission reduction was highly anticipated by drivers who had long felt burdened by deductions reaching 20%. ‘We have held in-depth discussions regarding the enforcement of commissions for two-wheeled online transport vehicles. With this policy, drivers will receive a larger share, namely 92% of the service fare,’ Dasco stated. Deputy Speaker Cucun added that oversight would continue to ensure full implementation on the ground, stressing that ‘as of 1 July 2026, the 8% rate for applicators and 92% for drivers must be fully in effect.’ The initiative is expected to boost the purchasing power of driver partners amid national economic dynamics while strengthening a fairer and more sustainable digital transport ecosystem in Indonesia.
