Goh rejects apology from rival
SINGAPORE: Prime Minister Goh Chok Tong rejected on Tuesday an
apology from a Singapore opposition leader who shouted questions
at him over an alleged loan offer to Indonesia.
Goh, campaigning for ruling People's Action Party candidates
running in the Nov. 3 general election, said he will decide on
what course of action to take after the polls.
Senior Minister Lee Kuan Yew had urged Chee Soon Juan, leader
of the Singapore Democratic Party, to apologize for his remarks
alleging Goh was dishonest and unfit for office or face legal
action.
The remarks were made on Sunday when Chee shouted at Goh while
both were visiting a ward being contested in the election. --DPA
