BANGKOK (AFP): Singaporean Prime Minister Goh Chok Tong arrived in Thailand yesterday at the head of a high-powered business delegation for a three-day visit aimed at boosting economic ties between the two 'tigers'.
The premier arrived at Bangkok's Don Muang airport on a Singapore Airlines jet with his team of more than 60 senior civil servants and captains of business and industry.
Goh, Singapore Foreign Minister S. Jayakumar and other top officials were welcomed by Thai premier Chavalit Yongchaiyudh, Foreign Minister Prachuab Chaiyasarn and Finance Minister Amnuay Virwan at a ceremony at Bangkok's Government House.
Officials, presided over by the two prime ministers, were expected yesterday to sign a US$700 million joint venture deal to develop Thailand's largest industrial estate on the country's eastern seaboard, officials said.
