During the holy month of Ramadan, the Riau Regional Police Force (Polda Riau) has continued its commitment to creating a development programme for Generation Z through the ‘Go Sprint Go Green’ initiative. This strategic step by the police aims to direct the significant potential of young people towards productive activities, distance them from negative behaviour, and instil values of environmental stewardship.

The Head of the Riau Regional Police Traffic Directorate (Dirlantas), Senior Commissioner of Police Jeki Rahmat Mustika, stated that the activity not only benefits public health but also generates positive economic impact, particularly for micro and small enterprise (UMKM) operators who participated in the event.

“The Go Sprint Go Green activity not only benefits public health and young people, but also acts as an economic catalyst for UMKM operators who take part. We hope that activities such as this will continue to create positive impact for the broader community,” said Senior Commissioner Jeki Rahmat Mustika on Sunday, 15 March 2026.

Senior Commissioner Jeki also urged all participants and visitors to maintain order and comply with traffic regulations during the event.

“We also remind all participants and community members present to comply with traffic regulations and together maintain cleanliness and environmental care,” he added.

The seventh edition of ‘Go Sprint Go Green’ was held on Saturday, 14 March 2026 in the evening on MH Thamrin Street, Pekanbaru City. The running competition attracted 276 participants comprising male, female, and children’s categories.

The event was opened by the Deputy Head of Riau Regional Police Traffic Directorate, Senior Captain of Police Budi Setiyono, accompanied by the Head of the Traffic Directorate’s Legal and Discipline Sub-section, Senior Captain of Police Galih Apria. The presence of these Riau Regional Police Traffic Directorate officials demonstrated full support for positive activities promoting healthy lifestyles and serving as a platform for youth development.

Beyond being a sporting event, ‘Go Sprint Go Green’ also served as a means to strengthen community bonds whilst encouraging young people to engage in physical activity and environmental care.

Head of the Legal and Discipline Sub-section of Riau Regional Police Traffic Directorate, Senior Captain of Police Galih Apria, stated that the activity was not merely a sporting competition but also part of efforts to build the character of young people to be healthy, disciplined, and possess sportsmanlike spirit.

“Through the Go Sprint Go Green activity, we want to provide a positive space for young people to channel their energy through healthy and beneficial activities. Additionally, this activity also serves to strengthen community bonds and encourage the public to care for the environment,” said Senior Captain Galih Apria.
