GMNI: The Trisakti Concept Must Be Applied in Governing
Jakarta (ANTARA) - Arief Hidayat, Chairman of the Central Executive Board of the Indonesian National Student Movement Alumni Association (GMNI), believes the government must align the current direction of governance with the Trisakti concept proposed by the Proclamator, Soekarno.
“I think it is necessary to focus more on what Bung Karno has instilled. That’s my view,” said Arief when met at the GMNI Alumni Halalbihalal event titled “Building National Character to Strengthen Tolerance and Mutual Cooperation,” at the TVRI building, Central Jakarta, on Saturday.
Arief explained that Soekarno’s Trisakti concept is highly relevant to current needs, as Indonesia is navigating uncertain geopolitical conditions.
“Trisakti means sovereignty in politics, independence in economics, and identity in culture,” clarified Arief Hidayat.
In this way, Indonesia can play a significant role in maintaining world peace amid the escalating Middle East conflict.
In addition to the Trisakti concept, the government should also refer to the Dasasila Bandung, which comprises 10 basic principles from the Asian-African Conference.
“I think that can serve as a foundation for building safe and orderly geopolitics, and for the common welfare of humanity worldwide,” he explained.
Given this, Arief assesses that it is already aligned, but the ultimate goal must remain focused on the Trisakti principles.
“I think, from my perspective, it should focus more on how to implement Trisakti and Dasasila Bandung in international forums,” Arief concluded.
Arief also invites all elements of the nation and GMNI ranks to strengthen national solidarity, maintain political and economic stability, and prioritise national interests to ensure Indonesia remains resilient and competitive amid global dynamics.
