GMF to Expand MRO Operations into Oman
PT Garuda Maintenance Facility Aero Asia Tbk (GMF) is set to operate a Maintenance, Repair, and Overhaul (MRO) facility at Muscat International Airport, Oman, for a period of 20 years. This expansion opens access for GMF to the aircraft maintenance markets in the Middle East, Africa, and Europe.
GMF signed a Concession Agreement with the Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) of the Sultanate of Oman during the Civil Aviation Investment Forum (CAIF) 2026 at the CAA headquarters in Muscat, Oman, on Monday (5/10/2026). The agreement was signed by GMF President Director Andi Fahrurrozi and the President of CAA Oman, Naif Ali Hamed Al-Abri.
“This collaboration serves as a stepping stone for GMF to expand its operational services in the international market,” Andi stated in a written statement in Jakarta on Monday (5/10/2026).
Under the agreement, the CAA of Oman will act as the hangar owner, concession provider, and regulator, ensuring compliance with aviation safety standards and regulations in Oman. Meanwhile, GMF will develop and operate the hangar along with its supporting facilities, utilising its technical capabilities in aircraft maintenance.
“Development will be carried out gradually in accordance with market needs and the agreed business plan,” said Andi.
According to Andi, Oman’s strategic position provides GMF with the opportunity to reach markets in the Middle East, Africa, and Europe. The facility in Oman will complement the company’s service reach from its primary operational base in Indonesia.
The development of the MRO in Oman is a step for GMF to bring its services closer to customers in the Middle East and surrounding regions. The company also sees an opportunity to capture a share of the aircraft maintenance market while supporting the development of Oman’s aviation industry.
“With our experience and capabilities, GMF sees the opportunity to reach a wider maintenance market while contributing to the strengthening of Oman’s aviation industry,” said Andi.
On the same occasion, GMF also signed a Commemoration Document with Mach Aerospace International to develop capabilities and human resources within the aviation sector. This collaboration is intended to support the development of the MRO ecosystem in Oman.
GMF will subsequently prepare operations alongside local partners through the gradual development of facilities, capabilities, and human resources. The presence of the facility in Oman will serve as GMF’s operational base to serve the markets in that region.
