The West Jakarta City Government (Pemkot Jakbar) will hold a night culinary tourism festival in the Glodok Chinatown area, Tamansari, on Saturday (20/6), to enliven the 499th Anniversary of Jakarta City. Tamansari Sub-district Head Simson Hutagalung stated that the festival will involve at least 60 Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs), with the majority of participants being local traders from the Glodok Chinatown vicinity. “We will showcase 60 MSMEs featuring typical Betawi and Glodok Chinatown cuisine. Therefore, we are prioritising traders from the area around the event location,” Simson said when confirmed in Jakarta on Monday. In addition to prioritising local traders, the West Jakarta City Government is also opening opportunities for Jakpreneur-assisted businesses under the auspices of the West Jakarta Industry, Trade, Cooperatives, and Small and Medium Enterprises (PPKUKM) Sub-department, as well as businesses assisted by urban villages within the Tamansari Sub-district. Simson explained that there are several criteria and requirements that traders wishing to participate must meet, namely holding a DKI Jakarta ID card and having a Bank Jakarta account. “All traders will be placed in tents along the north side of Jalan Pancoran, while the south side will remain open for vehicle traffic,” Simson clarified. To ensure visitor comfort, the organising committee has prepared supporting facilities in the form of tables and chairs on the pavement area for tourists who wish to dine on site. Simson added that the culinary variety on offer will be clearly divided into two categories, namely halal and non-halal cuisine. Regarding the payment mechanism, the West Jakarta City Government is promoting transaction digitalisation by partnering with Bank Jakarta. All transactions in the festival area will utilise digital payment services via the Quick Response Code Indonesian Standard (QRIS). This night culinary tourism event is scheduled to take place from 2:00 PM WIB until 11:00 PM WIB. In addition to hunting for culinary delights, visitors will also be treated to various interesting entertainment stages. “During the event, visitors will be entertained with various performances. There are also plans for artist appearances,” said Simson. To support the smooth running and conducive atmosphere of the event, the DKI Jakarta Transportation Agency (Dishub) along with related agencies will manage and divert traffic flow on several road sections around the Glodok Chinatown area during the festival.
