Globetrotters plan social activities

JAKARTA (JP): The American basketball entertainers the Harlem Globetrotters arrived in Surabaya, East Java, yesterday and will mark their Indonesian visit with a variety of social activities.

After an overnight rest, six of the Globetrotters are to meet their fans at a private senior high school, SMA St. Louis. On Wednesday their full team will dribble their way to the Don Bosco orphanage.

During their three-day trip to the East Java capital, the basketball masters are slated to play two evening games at the Kertajaya sports hall, tomorrow and Wednesday.

They will also start their Jakarta tour with charity programs at the Vincentius and Muhammadiyah orphanages on Thursday. Their school visits have been scheduled for Friday at SMA Kanisius and the Jakarta International School.

After playing two games at the Senayan Indoor Stadium on Saturday and Sunday, the Globetrotters leave Indonesia for Japan. Tickets for their matches are on sale at Rp 35,000 (US$15). (amd)
