Globalization and competition

Globalization and competition

I don't understand why Indonesian people who are facing the
globalization era, which will be marked by tough competition,
especially after the year 2000, are still not given the chance
to learn foreign languages through television. This is evidenced
by the fact that Spanish, Chinese and other foreign films are
dubbed in the Indonesian language.

How can we, the people of Indonesia, be expected to compete
with businesspeople from other countries such as China or Taiwan.
China could become one of the most prosperous countries in the
future and become a leading nation in trade in Southeast Asia.
Chinese can be taught in the cheapest way, i.e through
television.

Also it is ironic that, after 50 years of independence, some
Indonesians still show anti-Chinese sentiments. It seems that
nation building is still a far cry while such feelings still
exist.
