Global Oil Prices Surge, Will Fuel Prices Rise Again? Here is Bahlil's Response
The Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources, Bahlil Lahadalia, has confirmed that the price of subsidised fuel will not experience any increases until the end of 2026. This statement comes amidst movements in global oil prices that have the potential to affect domestic fuel costs.
Meanwhile, the price of non-subsidised fuel follows global oil prices. If Indonesia’s Crude Import Price (ICP) increases, non-subsidised fuel prices may rise, and conversely, they may decrease if the ICP falls.
“The price of non-subsidised fuel will follow the market price. If the global market ICP rises, it will automatically increase. However, if the ICP falls, there will certainly be a correction,” said Bahlil following the MKI Electricity Connect 2026 event on Tuesday (22/09/2026).
Bahlil emphasised that the government has ensured subsidised fuel prices will not rise until the end of the year. In addition to maintaining subsidised fuel prices, the government is also ensuring that national fuel stocks remain secure.
“The most important thing right now is that the government ensures our fuel reserves are at the minimum standard of 18 to 21 days,” he added.
Previously, PT Pertamina Patra Niaga confirmed that non-subsidised fuel prices at Pertamina gas stations have not undergone any changes as of 21 September 202lag. This serves to clarify information circulating on social media regarding price adjustments for non-subsidised fuel on that date.
VP Corporate Communication of PT Pertamina Patra Niaga, Kitty Andhora, stated that current non-subsidised fuel prices at Pertamina stations continue to refer to previously established rates.
“We ensure that as of 21 September 2026, there are no changes to non-subsidised fuel prices at Pertamina gas stations. Information regarding price adjustments on that date is incorrect. We urge the public not to easily believe or spread unverified information,” said Kitty in a press release on Monday (21/09/2026).
Pertamina Patra Niaga continues to ensure that all information regarding fuel prices is communicated through the company’s official communication channels.
