REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA — Demand for energy-efficient lighting products is increasing in line with efforts to promote electricity efficiency in sectors ranging from households to industry. This trend is encouraging global manufacturers to expand their market penetration in Indonesia, which is seen as having substantial growth potential.

The need for lamps with low power consumption and long lifespan is a key factor in the lighting industry’s competition. In addition to efficiency, industry players are also prioritising technology and product quality as differentiators in the market.

In line with this trend, Osram lighting products for the general lighting category are being re-marketed in Indonesia through Ledvance Trading Indonesia. This step is aimed at capturing the continuously growing market demand.

Southeast Asia Managing Director of Ledvance, Leven Cao, stated that this expansion is part of the company’s strategy to broaden its business reach in the Southeast Asia region.

“This presence marks a strategic step for Ledvance in expanding its business reach in Indonesia while reintroducing Osram products that have long been known to the public,” said Leven in his statement on Tuesday (31/3/2026).

Ledvance manages the Osram brand for general lighting categories in various countries. The products offered cover residential, commercial, and industrial needs, with a focus on energy efficiency and modern lighting technology.

“The Osram General Lighting products to be introduced cover a variety of lighting needs, from residential to commercial and industrial use,” said Leven.

The company also aims to strengthen its distribution network and local partnerships to increase market penetration. This strategy is considered essential to reach consumer needs across various segments.

Leven assessed that Indonesia has great potential in the lighting industry, particularly with the increasing demand for efficient and sustainable solutions.

“We are very excited to bring Osram back to Indonesia through LEDVANCE. This is a strategic step to expand our reach to the Indonesian market,” said Leven.

The expansion of global manufacturers into the domestic market reflects the increasing competition in the lighting industry. In addition to price factors, energy efficiency and product durability are the main considerations in driving demand.
