Global Jaya fetes Indonesia

JAKARTA (JP): Global Jaya School is organizing an event to educate its students about Indonesia's cultural riches.

The international standard school in Bintaro, South Jakarta, announced on Friday that the Indonesian Cultural Celebrations on Tuesday and Wednesday were aimed at enabling students to know, love and be proud of the various cultures in Indonesia.

Scheduled activities include traditional games, such as dapu, gatrik and benteng, food festivals, traditional costume shows, an arts and crafts exhibition and sale and a special assembly.

The school said the ultimate aim of the activities was fund- raising for purchase of Balinese gamelan instruments to allow students to learn more about music from the famed island. (hhr)
