Former British Prime Minister Tony Blair, along with representatives from the Tony Blair Institute for Global Change (TBI), officially visited the offices of BPI Danantara. Tony Blair met directly with the CEO of Danantara, who also serves as the Minister of Investment and Downstreaming/Head of BKPM, Rosan Roeslani.

During the meeting, both parties discussed various strategic cooperation opportunities aimed at supporting the transformation agenda of State-Owned Enterprises (SOEs) through strengthened governance, the development of strategic sectors, and the enhancement of Indonesia’s global competitiveness.

The discussions also covered potential collaboration in the development of economic zones, the acceleration of industrial downstreaming, infrastructure development, digital transformation, and the strengthening of institutional capacity by utilising the global experience and networks held by the Tony Blair Institute.

Rosan stated that the high level of investor interest expressed by Tony Blair during his visit confirms that Indonesia is a primary target for global investors. “We see immense enthusiasm from investors to participate in our economic development. Danantara is prepared to serve as a bridge for international capital to enter effectively, and market sentiment is very positive regarding the steps taken by the government,” Rosan explained in an official statement.

Rosan also noted that Blair views the government’s economic policies, including the establishment of Danantara, as an increasingly credible gateway for international investors to deploy capital. Furthermore, the interest shown by investors confirms that Indonesia remains a highly promising investment destination on the global stage.

“Danantara is the strategic partner sought by many foreign investors. We possess a portfolio and projects that are highly attractive to foreign capital. We will accelerate this process so that the impact is immediately felt by the community. This is only the beginning; more investors will follow,” Rosan asserted.

Rosan added that, according to Blair, Danantara’s position is very strong and attractive for foreign investors looking to collaborate and invest in Indonesia. Blair also expressed hope that this foreign investor enthusiasm could accelerate the inflow of capital into various priority sectors.

Previously, the Head of the State-Owned Enterprise Agency and COO of Danantara, Dony Oskaria, emphasised that collaboration with global partners is a vital component in strengthening the transformation of SOEs.

“We want the transformation of SOEs to proceed more rapidly. Therefore, it is important for us to open spaces for collaboration with global partners such as the Tony Blair Institute. There is much experience and practice that we can adapt to ensure optimal results and truly provide added value for Indonesia,” Dony said in a written statement.

The SOE Agency, alongside Danantara, continues to strengthen collaboration with various international strategic partners as part of the effort to build SOEs that are increasingly professional, globally competitive, and capable of driving sustainable national economic growth.
