Global Energy Crisis: Bahlil Assures BBM-LPG Stocks Are Safe, But We Must Make Efforts
Jakarta, CNBC Indonesia - The Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources (ESDM), Bahlil Lahadalia, has assured that national energy stocks, particularly fuel oil (BBM) and LPG, are in a safe condition. This is especially amid the pressures of global energy uncertainty due to conflicts in the Middle East. Nevertheless, Bahlil has called on the public to continue saving and using energy wisely. “So, our BBM stocks are, Insha Allah, in a safe condition. Minimum standard, minimum requirement. The second is regarding LPG. For LPG, we need collective effort. I suggest to the public that we be prudent in using LPG,” Bahlil said at the Coordinating Ministry for the Economy on Friday, 27/3/2026. Bahlil acknowledged that for LPG, the government still faces challenges due to high import dependency, reaching around 70% of total national needs. However, to date, supplies are deemed under control. “The ships that we have also purchased from several countries are still on track. So, Insha Allah, safe,” he said. Nevertheless, Bahlil stressed the importance of effort in energy consumption. This is because energy availability does not only depend on financial capability, but also on supply competition in the global market. “Once again, I say that this effort is to be more prudent in using it. Even if we have the money, but if the goods have to be competed for with other countries,” he stated.
