Global Conflicts Overshadow Q1-2026 Investment, Airlangga: This Is Not a Normal Situation
KONTAN.CO.ID - JAKARTA. The Ministry of Investment and Downstreaming/Coordinating Agency for Investment (BKPM) projects investment realisation for the first quarter of 2026 to reach Rp 497 trillion. However, this projection only grows by 7%, or slows down compared to the investment realisation in the first quarter of 2025, which could grow by 15.6%. Coordinating Minister for the Economy Airlangga Hartarto stated that the projected slowdown in investment realisation for the first quarter of 2026 is inseparable from the unstable global situation due to geopolitical conflicts. This situation is deemed not a normal economic condition, so many parties are still evaluating their business expansion plans. “Of course, in a war situation, it’s not a normal situation. Everyone is still evaluating,” Airlangga told the media at the Coordinating Ministry for the Economy office on Monday (13/4/2026). Nevertheless, the government assesses that investor interest in Indonesia remains quite strong. This is reflected in the positive responses from business actors in various meetings conducted by the government during working visits to several countries. Airlangga said that during the government’s visits to the UK, South Korea, and Japan, investors continue to show interest in investing in Indonesia. “For the government, during the visits to the UK, Korea, and Japan, the responses from investors were positive. So we’ll see (the developments),” he said. Meanwhile, Minister of Investment and Downstreaming/Head of the Coordinating Agency for Investment (BKPM) Rosan Roeslani stated that the first quarter 2026 data is still provisional because the government is still awaiting final data until mid-April. “Indeed, we’re still waiting until the 15th, but with this development, insyallah, the target set by the government for the first three months can be achieved, namely Rp 497 trillion,” Rosan said during a meeting with Commission XII of the House of Representatives, on Monday (13/4/2026).
