Jakarta (ANTARA) — A security guard at the residence of former Vice President of the Republic of Indonesia Jusuf Kalla suspects that a convex road mirror and the property’s fence were struck by a female driver with the initials AP (35) who was allegedly intoxicated.

“The driver of this vehicle was probably drunk. She hit this post, and then the car went straight through,” said Alim, a security guard at Jusuf Kalla’s (JK) residence, speaking to journalists in Jakarta on Wednesday.

Alim said the incident occurred at approximately 04:00 Western Indonesian Time, with the driver approaching from the direction of Kemang. The vehicle was reportedly carrying one woman and two men.

The single-vehicle accident damaged the convex road mirror and the property fence. “The glass was damaged, and then the fence. It collapsed inwards,” he said.

He confirmed that JK’s residence is currently occupied by one of the former vice president’s children. The driver is presently in mediation with the relevant parties.

“The mediation process is still ongoing,” he said.

Based on observations at the scene at approximately 15:30 Western Indonesian Time, two workers were seen repairing the black fence damaged in the accident.

Jalan Brawijaya IV appeared quiet, with few motor vehicles passing through.

Police confirmed a single-vehicle accident (loss of control) involving a car with registration plate B 2931 SZM driven by AP (35).

The driver admitted to negligence and has pledged to fully compensate all losses resulting from her actions. Following the incident, the driver left her vehicle registration certificate and driving licence at the scene.

Previously, police suspected the female driver with the initials HP (35) who crashed into the fence of JK’s residence in the Kebayoran Baru area of South Jakarta had been drowsy at the time.

Police confirmed there were no injuries or fatalities as a result of the incident. Police are also continuing to facilitate mediation between both parties.
