Glass at National Nutrition Agency Office Shatters, Police Cite Hot Weather

A glass panel at the National Nutrition Agency (BGN) office on Jalan Kebon Sirih, Central Jakarta, shattered on Thursday afternoon, initially sparking speculation of an attack on the premises. Central Jakarta Metro Police Chief, Senior Commissioner Reynold EP Hutagalung, stated that the glass did not break due to an assault. He suspects the glass panel on the second floor of the BGN office shattered due to the hot weather. “The glass shards are suspected to have resulted from the high outside temperature and the use of air conditioning inside, causing expansion which led to the glass breaking,” he said when confirmed on Thursday. According to him, the police have taken a statement from the building manager. Based on the manager’s account, this phenomenon of glass shattering is a common occurrence during the dry season. “The building manager, Martin, stated that the building’s glass can break once or twice a year during the hot or dry season,” Reynold said. Police officers visited the BGN office after the incident occurred and conducted an inspection at the location.
