Glamping Tent Ventilation Closed in Temanggung Family Deaths Case
Police in Temanggung are still investigating the deaths of a family who stayed at a glamping facility at the Posong tourist site. Current suspicions include inhalation of a portable gas leak and food poisoning.
Temanggung Police Department’s Head of Public Relations, Iptu Widodo, stated that a portable gas stove was among the evidence collected during the crime scene investigation. He confirmed the stove was located on the tent’s porch.
The glamping tent occupied by the four victims—MAM (52), M (43), AEH (17), and BAH (21)—is built on a raised platform with an octagonal structure and conical roof. A one-metre-long wooden porch, still covered by a canopy despite being outdoors, lies in front of the tent entrance.
Widodo explained that on the night the family from Ambarawa in Semarang Regency arrived (Tuesday, 26 May 2026), they cooked barbecue on the porch. The portable gas stove used by the victims was found in the porch area.
He noted that the porch and the sleeping area inside the tent were separated only by a zippered door. The tent interior had ventilation.
‘There is ventilation, but when we checked, it was closed,’ Widodo said during an interview on Friday, 29 May 2026.
He added that two ventilation holes existed in the tent, both covered by the victims’ family using mosquito nets.
‘It was extremely cold on the night of the incident, so all ventilation was closed,’ he said.
