Given a Chance to Speak, Woman's Tormentor Taufik Hidayat Says This

Taufik Hidayat (30) was given the opportunity to speak as a suspect in the case of false imprisonment and torture of a woman with the initials YTR in Bandung, West Java. Taufik used the occasion to apologise. Taufik was presented at a press conference at the West Java Regional Police Headquarters in Bandung on Friday afternoon (26/6/2026). The press conference was attended by several parties and officials from relevant agencies. After each was given a chance to speak, Taufik Hidayat was finally brought in. Taufik was escorted by officers to face the media. He was seen wearing an orange prison jumpsuit. His hands were bound with cable ties. Taufik appeared to hang his head. Many media representatives then asked questions. However, Taufik remained silent and kept his head down. Taufik was then given the opportunity to speak. In essence, Taufik apologised for his actions. ‘I apologise,’ said Taufik, as reported by detikJabar. The atmosphere then became rowdy. Many journalists and those present at the location condemned Taufik’s actions. A barrage of questions was posed, but Taufik did not answer many. Besides apologising, Taufik expressed his regret. ‘I regret it,’ Taufik stated, which was immediately met with another barrage of questions.
