Security firm Ancora Capital owner Gita Wirjawan says he is to take care of foreign and domestic investment to help alleviate poverty and unemployment in Indonesia.
"I have been given a mandate to manage matters related to capital inflows from overseas and investment in Indonesia," he said Sunday, after he was interviewed by President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono and vice-president-elect Boediono.
”The investment must be in line with the President's mission to lower the unemployment rate and alleviate poverty in Indonesia."
The interview took place at Yudhoyono's private residence in Cikeas, West Java.
Other Cabinet member candidates who have come for similar interviews are Public Works Minister Djoko Kirmanto, University of Indonesia's economist as well as vice rector and Democratic Party member Darwin Saleh, Indonesian Chamber of Commerce and Industry (Kadin) chairman Mohamad Suleman Hidayat, scholar from Lambung Mangkurat University in South Kalimantan Gusti Muhammad Hatta, Prosperous and Justice Party's (PKS) advisory board member Suharna Surapranata, and Indonesian Women Congress chairwoman Linda Amaliasari, the wife of former transportation minister Agum Gumelar.
Golkar party politician and state logistics firm Perum Bulog chief Mustafa Abubakar, former Nation United Party (PKB) secretary at the House of Representatives Helmy Faishal Zaini, former House energy Commission member and National Mandate Party (PAN) secretary-general Zulkifli Hasan, former House legal commission member from PAN Patrialis AKbar, former House budget committee deputy chairman from the United Development Party (PPP) Suharso Monoarfa, former House home affairs commission chairman from the Democratic Party EE Mangindaan, and physician Nila Juwita Anfasha Moeloek were also interviewed in the second session.
