The discovery of an unidentified girl’s body shocked residents of Tritunggal Village, Katibung Subdistrict, South Lampung Regency, Lampung on Friday (22 May). A note, believed to be written by the deceased’s parents, was found near the body.

The wrapped-in-white corpse was found by a resident heading to perform the dawn prayer.

‘When found, the victim’s body was thin. A wound on the lower back had decayed and scabbed over,’ said Katibung Police Chief Iptu Dita Hidayatullah on Saturday (23 May).

The deceased, an 11-year-old girl, had a wound on her waist, likely caused by prolonged bed rest. Doctors estimated the time of death was within 24 hours.

A note found near the body, allegedly written by the child’s parents, requested proper burial arrangements.

The note read: ‘Assalamualaikum, to whoever finds my child’s body, she died of diabetes. As parents, we could not bury her properly as we have only been in Lampung City for three days and are homeless after being scammed by someone.’

Dita stated the body was buried on Friday (22 May) afternoon after a post-mortem at the Lampung Police Hospital. ‘We are still searching for the parents,’ he added.
