Girl identifies 'killers' of family
CURUP, Bengkulu: An eight-year-old girl, whose entire family was brutally slain in August, stood up in court while testifying and pointed out the two men suspected of carrying out the act.
"Those are the men who shot, mutilated and later burnt my family," Marlina Hasanuddin said from the witness stand at the Curup District Court on Tuesday, Antara reported.
The two men on trial were MK, 30 years old, and AW, 24. Two other suspects are also being tried separately.
The men, and three others who are still at large, massacred the Hasanuddin family after robbing the house in Talang Ulak in the Kota Padang district of the Rejang Lebong regency on August 10.
Marlina managed to hide herself from the robbers and was the only survivor.
On Tuesday, she recounted everything, down to the smallest details, of what she saw the night seven men came to her house.
She said she saw her father shot by the robbers, and her mother Iyem (35 years), brothers Pendi (12) and Bambang (5) and sister Ida (2) being cut into pieces and then burnt.
Many present at the trial were seen crying while Marlina recounted the story.
Marlina is now under the care of the Rejang Lebong Police association of wives. (emb)
